at Damascus Fairground-Syria;

reflect positively on the 13th edition of BUILDEX 2007,
to be the door access for Arab and European Companies to the Middle Eastern
market. BUILDEX is now recognized as a global meeting point for builders
and buyers.
BUILDEX became a Syrian economic phenomenon
that extends to the outside of Arab World. BUILDEX activates the
commercial movement in the constructional development and building sector, and

BUILDEX2007; The 13th International Exhibition for
Construction was inaugurated On May11, 2007 under the patronage of H.E. the
Prime Minister Eng. Mhd. Naji Otry and by the presence of Minister of Economy

The last edition was characterized by the outstanding visit of
Mr. Nafez Ozak the Minister of Housing in
Turkey, who especially came from Turkey to visit Buildex and expressed Turkish
businessmen's desires to enter the Syrian market especially in the field of real
estate investments.
At the opening ceremony H.E.
the Prime Minister Eng. Mohammed Naji Otri congratulated BUILDEX administration
and staff and expressed his admiration for the advanced
level of organization and preparations that competes
international exhibitions,
and asserted on the importance of such exhibitions in supporting national
economy referring to the Syrian need to recover its old glory in the field of
building and construction mentioning the famous Syrian engineer “ Mimari
Al-Dimashki” the first Syrian engineer.
Dr. Abdullah Al Dardari, Vice Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs said:
"When comparing this BUILDEX with its launch after 13 years ago, we notice a
great increase in exhibition area from 1500 to 150.000 Sqm as well a great
increase in number of visitors, exhibited companies and countries. Eng. Hamoud
Al-Hussien, Minister of Housing and Building said: "I am a regular visitor of
BUILDEX since ten years and I am impressed in its evolution, every year is
better than the one before and I expect that next year will be better than the
current year". Eng. Hamoud Soufian Allaw, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources
said: "I visit BUILDEX along with some managers to find out the newest
industries in the sector of building and construction to select the best of our
national industries that benefit the institutions and establishments relevant to
our Ministry". Dr. Amer Loutfi, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade said: "The
speculation and what is happening in the real estate market and especially the
great demand for building materials lead to the rise of exhibitions, here is
exemplary exhibition of such great importance, BUILDEX".
Others
expressed the importance of BUILDEX in pushing the national economy’s wheel and
assisting the ministries in securing necessary requirements to improve housing
and construction sector. As well they expressed their proud of this developed
exhibition that deserves all the attention and support.
BUILDEX2007 is the most important edition within BUILDEX editions as it
comes after certain important courageous economical decisions taken by the
government and due to inclusive policy of development and modernization in
Syria.
BUILDEX 2007 attracted 550 exhibitors representing more than 1534 brands
from 55 different countries on a total exhibiting area over than 150.000 m2
, exhibitors were from: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain,
Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark,
Egypt, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran, India,
Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New
Zealand, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Romania, Syria,

BUILDEX 2007 was characterized by some official participation group of

exhibitors' comments were very positive, the returned questionnaires (526 in
total) indicated that 10% of exhibitors thought that the quality of visitors was
fair or good and 90% said they were excellent.
There was 90% satisfaction with
the number of visitors and 94% satisfaction with the exhibition advertising
campaign.
80% of the exhibitors indicated
that most of their objectives had been met.
Exhibitors considered BUILDEX 2007 a cultural forum and an
appropriate place for commercial and industrial cooperation.
